A Cool Drink of Water 24X18 Oil on Board $1350

There is nothing that tastes so good as a cold drink after working up a sweat on a hot day.  We often left the can propped in a small stream to keep it cold.  I did this from a photo taken on the Jensen farm in Cache County Utah.  I loved working with the broken play of light coming through the tree leaves. I try to capture the feeling of dry heat, with a hint of dust in the air and the smell of the water in the stream. Hope you enjoy the memories.

Yankee Fork 8X10 inches Oil on Panel
Among the headwaters of the Salmon River in Idaho is one called the Yankee Fork.  A giant gold mining dredge lies rusting amid the mounds of rubble it spewed out in its glory days, but before reaching the dredge beautiful meadows with small streams running through them provide a quiet reminder to its primitive beauty.

Land of Adventure Oil on Panel 7X9 inches

To young boys there's something magnetic about the promise of adventure posed by machines that can be climbed upon. This old gold dredge hadn't moved since the 1930's, but the treasure it promised was discovery!

Lambs Resting Oil on Panel 53/4 X 113/4 inches

Lambs lying in the early morning sun, peaceful and at rest, then I show up and immediately they are on alert, the little fellow in the center wouldn't look at me, but he was listening for any threat.  I tried to capture the alert tension in the pose.  This is a redo of a much larger painting done years ago.  I think it's actually better this time.

Hobble Creek oil on panel 9X12 inches

Up past the golf course the canyon is a beautiful virgin forest with campsites, picnic grounds, and plenty of places to paint.  I wonder if I became too involved in the vegetation and let the composition take care of itself.

Home on the Range Oil on Panel 9x12 inches

The west is dotted with home sites long since abandoned because of drought or discouragement.  This one has survived untold winters, earthquakes, and blazing summer heat, and and still holds the promise of a pioneer's story, hopes, and dreams.
